A Narrative of the Operations of the Fleet, London, 1779

$12.00

This is a candid narrative of the transactions of the British fleet under Lord Howe. It covers the period from the arrival of the Toulon Squadron, to the time of his Lordship’s departure for England. The work was written by an officer then serving in the fleet and is intended to be an apologia for Lord Howe. Additionally, there is mention made of several regiments, including the 23rd, and contains accounts of grenadiers and light infantry being pressed to serve as marines. There is a large folding plan (15″ x 18″) of the fleet within Sandy-Hook in 1778 and contains reflections of the action at Monmouth. Stitched and bound in printed wrap.
