Pickering’s Plan for the Discipline of the Militia, by Thomas Pickering

This famous work, first published in 1775 is truly an “American” drill manual and gives the best explanation of the 1764 drill extant. It has numerous plates, charts, and diagrams, including that for the making of a Pickering tool and the placement of the feet while drilling. The work is bound in an 18th century style quarter leather spine with blind tooled raised bands,  hand marbled paper boards and an 18th century style paper label. It provides the perfect period look for the living history enthusiast.
