Carter’s Commentaries, or the Continental Officers Guide to von Steuben’s Drill
$30.00
This work by Sherwood Carter is the result of more than five years of intensive research, and much care has gone into its design to make it an effective and useful book for the field. The text has been set in Caslon and the binding designed so that the book can be used without any fear of historical anachronism. The work is an historical essay not only on the development of the American Drill System, but also on the development of drill manuals in the 18th century. It is accompanied by a complete series of illustrations displaying each position of the exercise, and is supplemented with an analysis of the drill using modern English usage. It is available in an 18th century printer’s binding, with blind tooled raised bands, hand made, laid blue paper boards and an 18th century style paper label.
Please be aware that leather colors and marbled paper patterns are based on what we have at hand, or in stock. Colors and patterns may vary from the image of the item.
