Observations on the Efficacy of Cold Bathing, in the Cure of nervous, bilious, scrophulous, and other Chronic Diseaes. 1786.

$5.00

In the 18th century, cold bathing was a popular health trend that was used to treat a variety of ailments and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Scottish physician William Cullen prescribed cold water immersion for different conditions, from full-body to foot-sized.

Baron de Larrey, a French army surgeon, packed limbs in ice before amputation to numb the pain.

In Bath, cold water plunging was used as a shock treatment for advanced mental health conditions.

Cold baths were a part of a designed landscape and were often located in private houses and estates. The Bath Assembly Rooms, built between 1769 and 1771, featured a cold bath, billiards, coffee, gambling, balls, and concerts. Stitched with a printed wrap as the original. $5.00
